When I began driving I didnt find it as natural as I first thought I would, having being in a number of car crashes in the past I soon found myself hitting a bit of a mental block and wanting to give up altogether. Gareth was supportive and caring and helped me to overcome these obstacles, his patience is a real testiment to his charecter! He never once made me feel slow or put me down, he is a fantastic instructor and I would thoroughly recommend him to anyone and everyone! I started my driving lessons in June 2012 with Mark Napier. I started off as a very nervous pupil but in to time Mark had me feeling at ease and with this, my confidence grew and grew. Mark is an extremely patient instructor and I couldn't have asked for a better teacher. Not only is Mark a fantastic instructor, he is a great guy too and found I got on with him very well. I actually miss my lessons now I have passed and in the near future, I will be calling Mark to teach me how to drive a manual! It took just 9 months for Mark to teach me how to drive, and passing my test was an amazing feeling! I took my driving test on 8/4/13 at Worthing with my instructor Frank .My driving experience was everything and more than I expected. Knowing very little about how to drive and a car in general I was a real novice! But Frank is an amazing instructor and helped me so much throughout the six months I was with him. He would push me to do the very best I could and was always more than happy to help with any problems I had. He was also efficient when coming for lessons and would always squeeze in lessons that he could for me in order for me to pass my test. A big thank you to Ray Brewster who helped me pass my driving test at my 1st attempt. I first started to learn to drive over 20 years ago but after being involved in a serious car accident i decided driving was not for me, but then after years of thinking should i learn to drive a mutual friend introduced me to Ray who said that he would be more than happy to help me. During my first couple of lessons i was very nervous but Ray was very calm and reassuring and explained everything well and let me learn at a pace that i was happy with and it wasn't long before i was enjoying my lessons and looking forward to attempting my test. Raj taught me that driving isn’t a scary battle to get from A to B ASAP, but an effective and enjoyable way if done safely and properly. I have learnt that being alert and patient is key. After two long years of driving lessons with two driving instructors I finally passed my driving test with Frank Judah from L Plates. Frank was a much more professional driving instructor than my first one had been and cared about my progress unlike the first guy. My confidence and general driving improved a lot within those six months I had lessons with Frank. He taught me the importance of taking things slow and correcting things as much as possible. I passed my driving test with Frank the first time, whereas before that I'd had two unsuccessful attempts at the test. I am so pleased I have now got my full licence and a lot of this is down to Frank. I've also recommended my boyfriend to start lessons with him and he should be starting in a few weeks time. Even when you make the smallest or biggest of mistakes, he puts you at ease by saying how great you're doing. I am absolutely thrilled and over the moon to have FINALLY passed my driving test!!! At 28 deciding to dedicate my limited time to learning to drive in order to replace the treacherous daily commute was very daunting and felt like a huge and expensive hurdle to overcome…….however Ray Brewster made everything possible !!!!

Ray was recommended to me by a colleague as she had just started to learn to drive and was instantly enthusiastic at the prospect of learning to drive and highly recommended him. Right from the start he made me feel at ease and supported, he took the time to get to know me as an individual and tailored my driving lessons around me and catered them to my individual needs. I can’t thank Ray enough for his tremendous support, patience and commitment that he showed me whilst being under his guidance.

It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know Ray and listening to his wonderful stories, in a way I am quite sad not to be spending driving time with him anymore as he was always such a cheery and laid back guy with many interesting stories. I definitely don’t think that I would not have passed at all or any time in the near future if it wasn’t for Ray’s positive attitude and absolute dedication to my cause. If you would like to learn to drive but are looking for the right person you have found him- laid back, committed and most importantly HONEST.

It's been a great few months learning with Jared Light. We have driven no matter the conditions and he has really helped develop me into a lifetime driver, not just to get through test. Jared worked with me to really improve driving confidence and straight from the start he worked on my strengths, helping me to progress loads each lesson. My only regret is actually passing, as it means no more great hours in the car. Great value for money lessons and with such a great instructor, worth EVERY penny.

I'm elated, having just passed, and have only Jim to thank! 

Jim was an awesome instructor. Very popular among my classmates and was recommended by close friends after I overheard them talking about their lessons. Very patient at the beginning, with very helpful advice due to his vast experience too. He guided me very well, insuring I was well-informed at every stage of the learning process, right up to waiting in the driving test center with me, calming me down with last minute confidence-boosters! I was very keen to pass first time, with A-levels coming up in January. Every minute spent driving with Jim paid dividends, as i was able to pass first time with only 2 minors, well before my Christmas holidays.

During my driving test, every other road seemed to have a story behind it thanks to Jim, and as a result I didn't make the same mistakes as those in the past. Despite not knowing Burgess Hill beforehand, Jim showed me all the tricky spots, as well as how people had managed to pick up minors before.

I have recommended him to many a friend and have just got off the phone with my sister, whom I'm pleased to say, will be having lessons with Jim this summer. Overall: a very kind man, with huge amounts of experience and most importantly very, very patient! Thanks again Jim, Michael Needham. Hove.

I passed my test on Friday 30th of November after having just 6 lessons with John Mell, admittedly I had previous lessons but that was about 6 years ago. John eased me back into driving really well, and I felt comfortable driving with him, (I previously had female instructors) so this was key. But I am so pleased that John took me for my lessons! He made me feel like I could pass my test even after a few lessons. John was really supportive of me through my theory as well as my practical. John completely changed how I do the reverse park, which made it so much easier for me :-) I would definately recommend L Plates especially John as he managed to work around my work hours which was just as important as his ability to teach! L Plates were magnificent for me!!

Without ever getting into a car before, my first driving lesson was a real scare for me, but John Mell was helpful and started off slow with me. He taught me everything I needed for my test and was so influential to me getting only 2 minors. When I would make a mistake John would talk me through what happened, and talk to me about how we could improve that part of my driving. 

I want to give a big thanks to L Plates and especially to John for getting me my license. I would advise anyone to choose L Plates in the future!

I had a very pleasent learning experience with L Plates and my instructor Colin was very friendly from start to finish. I was always made to feel very relaxed and comfortable as I got used to being behind the wheel. Colin always explained areas of driving and the car in great detail with a great deal of patience. I always knew how I was performing as I would always receive feedback on my lessons and criticisms were always constructive and made into a positive by Colin telling me how I can improve and making me feel better about the whole thing so I always understood my mistakes and how to correct them. My experience with L-Plates driving school is one I will definitely treasure for a long time. Thanks to Mark Napier, my instructor who made this possible. I have used 2 different instructors before I met Mark. The difference was clear right from the time I took my first drive out with him. He is very soft spoken, very warm hearted, always punctual. He has a very simple and easy way of explaining various road situations as they arise. Very patient when explaining road situations (even if he has to do it several times). 

I guess his aim as he instructs , is not just to prepare you to pass the test, but to equip you with a life time driving tips which will ensure you leave to arrive safe.

Colin was an excellent instructor. He was calm and made me feel very safe when I was not confident, and was always really friendly and nice to be in the car with. He was very supportive and didn’t make me take any more lessons than I needed before booking my test and actually encouraged me to bring it forward, which was nice. Thank you Colin!
