It's been a great few months learning with Jared Light. We have driven no matter the conditions and he has really helped develop me into a lifetime driver, not just to get through test. Jared worked with me to really improve driving confidence and straight from the start he worked on my strengths, helping me to progress loads each lesson. My only regret is actually passing, as it means no more great hours in the car. Great value for money lessons and with such a great instructor, worth EVERY penny.

Jared, thank you for everything you have done for me and I hope to see you in the near future. You are a great asset to L Plates and I have loved every second driving with you. I'm elated, having just passed, and have only Jim to thank! 

Jim was an awesome instructor. Very popular among my classmates and was recommended by close friends after I overheard them talking about their lessons. Very patient at the beginning, with very helpful advice due to his vast experience too. He guided me very well, insuring I was well-informed at every stage of the learning process, right up to waiting in the driving test center with me, calming me down with last minute confidence-boosters! I was very keen to pass first time, with A-levels coming up in January. Every minute spent driving with Jim paid dividends, as i was able to pass first time with only 2 minors, well before my Christmas holidays.

During my driving test, every other road seemed to have a story behind it thanks to Jim, and as a result I didn't make the same mistakes as those in the past. Despite not knowing Burgess Hill beforehand, Jim showed me all the tricky spots, as well as how people had managed to pick up minors before.

I have recommended him to many a friend and have just got off the phone with my sister, whom I'm pleased to say, will be having lessons with Jim this summer. Overall: a very kind man, with huge amounts of experience and most importantly very, very patient! Thanks again Jim, Michael Needham. Hove.

I passed my test on Friday 30th of November after having just 6 lessons with John Mell, admittedly I had previous lessons but that was about 6 years ago. John eased me back into driving really well, and I felt comfortable driving with him, (I previously had female instructors) so this was key. But I am so pleased that John took me for my lessons! He made me feel like I could pass my test even after a few lessons. John was really supportive of me through my theory as well as my practical. John completely changed how I do the reverse park, which made it so much easier for me :-) I would definately recommend L Plates especially John as he managed to work around my work hours which was just as important as his ability to teach! Without ever getting into a car before, my first driving lesson was a real scare for me, but John Mell was helpful and started off slow with me. He taught me everything I needed for my test and was so influential to me getting only 2 minors. When I would make a mistake John would talk me through what happened, and talk to me about how we could improve that part of my driving. 

I want to give a big thanks to L Plates and especially to John for getting me my license. I would advise anyone to choose L Plates in the future!

I had a very pleasent learning experience with L Plates and my instructor Colin was very friendly from start to finish. I was always made to feel very relaxed and comfortable as I got used to being behind the wheel. Colin always explained areas of driving and the car in great detail with a great deal of patience. I always knew how I was performing as I would always receive feedback on my lessons and criticisms were always constructive and made into a positive by Colin telling me how I can improve and making me feel better about the whole thing so I always understood my mistakes and how to correct them. He never failed to make conversation and let me learn at my own speed. The overall experience with L Plates was great and the prices are very reasonable compared to other companies. I passed my second test and felt quite relaxed as the whole procedure was explained to my by Colin many times.

My experience with L-Plates driving school is one I will definitely treasure for a long time. Thanks to Mark Napier, my instructor who made this possible. I have used 2 different instructors before I met Mark. The difference was clear right from the time I took my first drive out with him. He is very soft spoken, very warm hearted, always punctual. He has a very simple and easy way of explaining various road situations as they arise. Very patient when explaining road situations (even if he has to do it several times). 

I guess his aim as he instructs , is not just to prepare you to pass the test, but to equip you with a life time driving tips which will ensure you leave to arrive safe.

I am a 68yr old female who had never been behind the wheel of a car until 2nd of aug2012 that was when I met my instructor Ray Everett, one of the first questions I asked Ray was will you be honest with me after my trial lesson. After the lesson he said I could do it with a lot of hard work, well due to Rays patience, understanding, encouragement and giving me the confidence to carry on, not forgetting his years of experience I have passed my theory and have a date for my test. John Eacher trained me for my ADI part 2 and 3 and we trained very hard but also became good friends.He was always there if i had a problem or question even when I texed him in the evenings panicing about my tests.Part 3 was one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life but John made it easier with his help and advice and role playing Darren the chavvy teenager which had us both in stitches.It was about me getting through my tests which I have now done sucessfully but it was also important to like and get on well with your trainer.I am now an ADI and looking forward to a great career and I owe John alot for his help and feel I have made a very good friend.Thanks John. My instructor Helen was a really good instructor. From my first lesson Helen taught me how to do things thoroughly which made me really confident when it came to my test. Learning to drive was really fun and not stressful in the slightest. Helen was really great at answering all my questions but we also were able to talk about life as well. I was really nervous to start my driving lessons, like everybody is. I was worried i'd have somebody really horrible and impatient. My driving instructor was Gareth. After my first lesson with him, it felt like i knew him for ages. (Weird i know) But he made me feel comfortable and was very friendly and patient with me. One thing I really struggled with, was my confidence. But Gareth was always trying to help me build that up and was never putting me down. At first i always thought i was gonna fail first time. However, because Gareth was set on that i was gonna past that gave me that little bit of confidence. On the day of my test, i went in with a clear head. Not assuming that i was gonna fail or past. And i did it! I passed first time. I don't think i would have been able to if Gareth didn't try to build my confidence. I have been reccommending L-Plates and Gareth ever since. Jade Huggett. I wanted to say a big thank you to L Plates and my driving instructor, Mark Napier, as i managed to pass my driving test first time on Friday 14th September! After seventeen years of riding motorcycles, i finally decided this year that i would have a go at driving a car, instead. ( It was something i had wanted to do for a long time, but didn’t like the idea of having to go through taking lessons and doing a test, again!). Still, i need not have worried, as it turned out to be a lot easier and more enjoyable than i had imagined. Mark was an excellent instructor, friendly and the most calm and patient person i have ever met!!! He helped me a great deal with learning to drive, which, (as you can imagine), is a totally different concept to riding a bike! Penny Powell was recommended to me via a friend of mine and ex student of Penny's - I was told that she was a thorough instructor who helped her gain the skills and confidence she needed to pass first time.

I've had driving lessons on and off for about 7 years - After the recommendation from my friend, and learning of the competitive prices L-Plates offered, I thought I'd give it one last go with a female instructor. - Previous instructors from other schools had not worked for me. I also had a job offer on the line which involved me needing to have a car. 

Penny understood from early on that I had limited time to try and pass my test. I came to her with some bad driving habits which she carefully pointed out and encouraged me to correct. Penny worked hard to help me to see that I was able to drive well but she saw that I often lacked concentration and would let silly things slip. She helped me to build confidence in my driving ability by suggesting new ways of tackling things I found difficult. Penny was always prompt for lessons - and often willing to change pick up's and drop off's with little notice (as long as this did not conflict with prior engagements). She was patient but let you know if she thought you could better. 

I passed my test first time which has meant I have secured my job offer and am now in the process of buying a car after 7 years of learning to drive!

Driving lessons Tunbridge Wells

Thank you! Colin Dawes was my instructor. He was very easy to get along with, and made everything very clear. If I didn't quite understand something, he was happy to repeat himself. In lessons he was very calm and this allowed me to calm down too, so when it came to my first test I was so nervous with a new person in the car, and that led to a relatively bad drive, and my failing. However, second time around I told my examiner how nervous last time had made me and he allowed me to talk to him, calming me down a lot (despite some very interesting situations on the road arising!). Colin was flexible with times (if you booked in good time!) and when my test was imminent he was happy to run over for a few minutes just to make sure I got in enough practice. I'm very happy I chose to go with L Plates and I have already been recommending Colin to my friends! Thanks again Ellie Wade.
