Learning to drive is an exciting but really daunting part of your life but this was eased due to John Mell's calm, kind and funny, but professional nature. It's always a nerve racking time, but he was always fully supportive and extremely patient! I would highly recommend John as he was always considerate of when I was busy, so would arrange a lesson that was best for me, so I never once had to worry about missing lessons or taking longer to learn. He was also on time for every lesson and made sure that I achieved the most out of each of them. I was able to learn at my pace allowing me to grow in confidence, which helped me to deal with any problems faced on the road, making me a more confident and safer driver. Having Terry as a driving instructor was absolutely amazing! If there is a person out there who doesn't know you but has complete confidence in you its Terry. He is a brilliant instructor always making sure you're feeling comfortable and relaxed. He always has he faith of his learners - chucked me straight into driving on my first lesson and didn't look back since! Terry is such a lovely, calm and friendly person he became more of a friend to me than an instructor. He knows when your ready for test, even if you don't have faith in yourself, you know Terry does! I'd just like to say a massive thank you to my instructor Frank for being so patient and supportive over the last 11 months. The thought of driving absolutely terrified me, but Frank is brilliant, especially if you're a little nervous at first! We took it slow and steady so the pressure wasn't there, but Frank always knows when it's time to push you on a little further and when the time is right to make progress without it being scary. Today I passed my Practical Driving test first time! 

My experience with my driving instructor Frank Mclaren has been amazing. In my opinion he is a great instructor just because the way he taught me made me feel relaxed whilst driving, as well as teaching me to pass my test first time. 

He worked around my college day with lessons and if I ever needed any help he was always there to help me out. He is a great instructor and I recommend him to anyone who wants to learn to drive.

My experience with L Plates has been really swift and after only having around 30 hours of driving with Frank since I stared in February and since I have started I have really quickly managed to pick up how to drive and Franks tips were also really useful to.

I was very nervous and didn't want to learn to drive and my mum booked my lessons without me knowing and I'm so glad she did with L plates because my instructor Frank McLaren was brilliant he was very patient with me and got me up to test standard very quickly and even offered to help me with my theory test which was very nervous about. I would highly recommend Frank as he was highly flexible with times and where he picked me up whether it was from college or from home. I could not have asked for a better instructor! Every time I did something wrong, he would not only tell me, but tell me how to correct it. This really helped me to understand what I was doing and how I should be doing it. The instructions given to me each lesson were brilliant and every new thing I was I introduced to was explained excellently. I learnt to drive with Jim Eckford- he is a very nice, friendly person and I enjoyed learning to drive with him. He was always on time and you got your full two hours he was really patient with me, and especially supportive as my father was very ill and sometimes I had to change or cancel lessons to take care of him. Ray Brewster was my instructor. I 100%, 10/10, would recommend him. He is an all round nice, friendly, funny guy. He will work silly hours all day, pick you up and drop you off at your destination. He also doesn't just teach you how to pass the test, as I've heard most instructors do, he teaches you everything you need to know about the road so you're safer once you have passed.

The first thing that drew me to L Plates was the offer for 2 hours for the price of 1 for your first lesson. Which is great as it gives you an opportunity to meet the instructor to make sure you get along. Colin was very good, he explained everything fully, with the use of diagrams so you understood what you would do before doing it. He helped me to learn alot by when I made mistakes heexplained to me what I had done wrong and how to avoid doing it again, also has loads of little hints and tips. I was in a high-speed crash at 17 so nervousness has always held me back for the last 20 years, but with a child on the way a license had become essential. My experience with L plates has been fantastic. You get a speedy response to enquiries. You can pay for as many or as few lesson as you like online. My instructor would than give me a copy of all my lesson times. Ray Everett was my instructor and he was fantastic. I'm an older driver who thought I would never get my license and with Ray I was able to pass both parts first time round with 2 minors. He was very warm and welcoming but stern when need be. He was very passionate about making sure I was a safe driver. He was able to voice my concerns even before I said anything. He is a fantastic teacher and driving companion. If they were giving out PHDs for driving he would definitely deserve one. Not putting any other instructors down but I think my success was possible because of him. He was the perfect one for me. If you don't have a good sense of humour though than he might not be the one for you. But if you want someone who is good fun and will push and support you. He is very honest and will not make you do any more or less than you need to be successful. So jus listen to home and take his instruction and I'm sure you will be successful as well.

I cannot thank my instructor enough for helping me accomplish my hope to someday pass my driving test. 

John has always been so encouraging and always helped me to improve my driving skills in every lesson I took.each and every lesson was well planned, so I knew what I was doing and felt comfortable with what I had achieved and what I could work on. 

Being a student at the time I lived in Nottingham, coming back every couple of months meant that my progress was slow, however John was always reassuring me that I should stay positive and crack on. Once I had finished my course, it was only a matter of months before We both felt I was ready for my practical test. Although I was nervous, John insisted that I would be just fine. After a couple of hiccups I passed second time and was absolutely over the moon. Thank you John, you deserve all the praise, and without your kind and motivational help I think i'd still be taking the bus!

I have never had someone make me feel so at ease as Mark based in Hastings. He drives a tidy red automatic skoda which I can honestly say is a beautiful car. Mark manages to teach you at your own pace but continues to push you further when he understands your capability. He truly understands all the ways of the road and is always alert and pays great attention to detail. I passed my test at the end of March after having lessons with mark who is great at his job but also a calming, genuine lovely man. We had hours full of great conversations and he really took the time to build a rapour with me. I would highly recommend Sue Cross to anyone who is thinking of learning to drive but is feeling nervous about getting behind the wheel, I came to her after having already had driving lessons for a while and I had issues with being really anxious and over thinking everything I did in the car, but Sue was really patient with me all the way through and made me feel at ease every lesson! She worked hard with me to make sure I was at test standard as well as being able to control my nerves, she was really reassuring and thanks to Sue I passed in Burgess Hill on my first attempt. Having previously been unsuccessful in my driving test before coming to university, I felt that it was time to find a new driving school and instructor who could help me improve my driving skills so that I could pass my test with confidence. And I did- today!! Ray from L Plates was not only a friendly and encouraging instructor, but he also tailored each lesson to my requirements, so that I was continuously improving and becoming a confident yet safe driver. Although a popular instructor, Ray always found suitable times for me to have my lessons and even picked me up from right outside my flat! I'm so glad that I had Ray to guide me with my driving as I genuinely do enjoy it now, something which I never thought would be possible! Mark Napier was recommended to me by a friend. I had to wait a month for him to fit me in, and once I started, I was so glad I had waited. 

Having learnt in a manual 15 years ago, failing my test and giving up, I'd built up a fear of driving and lacked a lot of confidence. Mark put me at ease immediately, he didn't patronise me, and he really tapped in to the skills I had already acquired all those years ago and to my way of learning. He was patient and calm and moreover - he listened to me. I always felt that if I didn't understand a concept or technique, that I could ask him to explain it again, and he would, over and over until the penny finally dropped! Mark, not only helped me to pass my test, I truly believe he has made me a safe driver. The manner in which he taught me was exemplary and I would happily recommend him to anyone wanting to learn in an automatic.

Hi I passed my driving test first time today!

I don't think I could have done it without the help and consistent reassurance from Frank McLaren. He was truly amazing! I have been learning to drive on and off for three years as I just couldn't find a instructor that I felt comfortable with. I honestly didn't think I would ever pass! That is until i found L Plates, within my first lesson I felt completely different from driving with other instructors, he keeps you calm, teaches you so much. I actually enjoyed my lessons and really looked forward to them! I honestly didn't think I would be passing my test first time I was a nervous driver but Frank made me completely forget about all my worries and made me realise I can do it! Mark has achieved what many people, including myself, thought impossible - I've passed!!

Having grown up in the second largest city in Ukraine, I had no exposure to driving and no knowledge or interest in motoring until I came to the UK and found myself relying heavily on others that did drive. I had no understanding of the fundamentals of how a car worked, had a deep fear of the road, and was hugely lacking in confidence. 

Mark's calm, considered and patient approach helped me through these issues, and importantly helped me overcome my lack of confidence. I felt supported right from the start, and through a structured approach at a pace I felt comfortable with I made consistent progress. Although progress was slow at the start, Mark stuck with me throughout culminating in me passing my driving test first time. 

The end result is I'm now free, and that feeling of freedom to go wherever I want whenever I want completely independently is utterly incredible.
